Now that the holidays have wound down and I know what day of the week is, it's time to show off a new quilt pattern from <a href="https://www.fatquartershop.com/free-quilt-patterns" target="_blank">the Fat Quarter Shop</a>.<br />
<br />
From their Classic and Vintage series, I present the Double Nine Patch quilt block!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Xw7xdQDllBU/Wk-NmaEfIPI/AAAAAAAAAf0/r7EZ94TuPNAAbAcNghzeEZQljJc262DmwCLcBGAs/s1600/IMG_20171123_195330.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1536" data-original-width="1536" height="320" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Xw7xdQDllBU/Wk-NmaEfIPI/AAAAAAAAAf0/r7EZ94TuPNAAbAcNghzeEZQljJc262DmwCLcBGAs/s320/IMG_20171123_195330.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
This is a quick and easy block to make. I love nine patches and red and white quilts, so this project speaks to my soul on so many levels. I used a mix of red and white fabrics from Bonnie and Camille's The Good Life. Because I was in the middle of marching band season with my daughter and time was sparse, I chose not to make the quilt, but I didn't want to just make a block. So I got to thinking, why not get a jump on the next major holiday?<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-SY172liIBL4/Wk-QVmg0uSI/AAAAAAAAAgA/Fdk_PfEocL4cG8fq9gv5SD3S-Wfev-xGgCLcBGAs/s1600/IMG_20171130_155612.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1513" data-original-width="1134" height="320" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-SY172liIBL4/Wk-QVmg0uSI/AAAAAAAAAgA/Fdk_PfEocL4cG8fq9gv5SD3S-Wfev-xGgCLcBGAs/s320/IMG_20171130_155612.jpg" width="239" /></a></div>
Wow! I planned ahead and actually got a holiday project ready in time for the intended holiday. How very adult of me. LOL<br />
<br />
So now, I have a very snazzy, new throw pillow to celebrate Valentine's Day with in my decorating arsenal.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-CmubSyBjStg/Wk-RAzkcU7I/AAAAAAAAAgI/5zZTjvfx8yEIHCP7gwgnfotu4WaJKUh1QCLcBGAs/s1600/IMG_20171130_222925.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1341" data-original-width="1005" height="320" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-CmubSyBjStg/Wk-RAzkcU7I/AAAAAAAAAgI/5zZTjvfx8yEIHCP7gwgnfotu4WaJKUh1QCLcBGAs/s320/IMG_20171130_222925.jpg" width="239" /></a></div>
<br />
Of course, this maybe the only decorating I do for Valentine's Day....<br />
<br />
Thank you so much Fat Quarter Shop for letting me play with another great pattern again! I just may have to get that <a href="https://www.fatquartershop.com/double-nine-patch-quilt-kit" target="_blank">awesome kit</a> you are offering in your shop so that I can finally make a full-sized Red and White quilt that is on my "Quilty Bucket List."<br />
<br />
Keep on Crafting,<br />

No, Jolly Bar Jazz!I am thrilled to present my contribution to the Fat Quarter Shop's latest Shortcut quilt, the Jolly Bar Jazz pattern. This is the first time I have been asked to make a sample for a business. I couldn't have wished for a better inaugural pattern.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-0f46ylPJaVc/Wc51e_mlBZI/AAAAAAAAAYQ/kIyBNcY6qToIga-hk7FVXG_cROZiaFbjQCKgBGAs/s1600/IMG_20170928_112436600.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="900" height="320" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-0f46ylPJaVc/Wc51e_mlBZI/AAAAAAAAAYQ/kIyBNcY6qToIga-hk7FVXG_cROZiaFbjQCKgBGAs/s320/IMG_20170928_112436600.jpg" width="180" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
Like all of the Shortcut Quilt patterns, this one went together fast. I had all of the pieces cut out and sewn together in a matter of 2 days! <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-DEFZ82ym6UU/Wc53H1DAsYI/AAAAAAAAAYU/EyaMrPN0wGg2-e4Ui69uoeWYdEN9GFXXQCKgBGAs/s1600/IMG_20170928_112521493.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="900" height="320" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-DEFZ82ym6UU/Wc53H1DAsYI/AAAAAAAAAYU/EyaMrPN0wGg2-e4Ui69uoeWYdEN9GFXXQCKgBGAs/s320/IMG_20170928_112521493.jpg" width="180" /></a></div>
<br />
What I also love about this quilt: it's big enough to fit a twin-sized bed. I think it's going to be a fight between my daughter and my youngest son who gets to use it on their bed first.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-O1FH4BR9uWw/Wc53PkilgDI/AAAAAAAAAYY/O4Ni-eO0h0sqG1FId4gGmZDPQ1U_buZ9gCKgBGAs/s1600/IMG_20170928_112850872.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="900" height="320" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-O1FH4BR9uWw/Wc53PkilgDI/AAAAAAAAAYY/O4Ni-eO0h0sqG1FId4gGmZDPQ1U_buZ9gCKgBGAs/s320/IMG_20170928_112850872.jpg" width="180" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
I used Kona White as the background for this quilt with American Jane's Bread N' Butter line. I think this quilt would also have looked even cuter if I could have used my Moda light blue Chambray fabric, but I didn't have quite enough yardage. Oh well, next time, because I can definitely see myself making this again. :)<br />

<br />
The last time I blogged was 11 years ago, and it was about knitting. I still knit. But...I also quilt now. And, I still crochet...and cross stitch...and do needlepoint...and weave...and have been known to dabble in macrame, string art and the occasional sewing of a costume or two.<br />
<br />
Hmm.<br />
<br />
I suppose some would say I suffer from Craft ADD. I like to say that I am well-rounded and experienced in all that the "fiber-y" lives have to offer.<br />
<br />
Okay, I paint, color, draw and write too.<br />
<br />
I may have a problem.<br />
<br />
But, until they develop a 12 step program for my kind of "addiction" or I get roped into being on an episode of Hoarders because the craft supplies have over run the house, I will continue on.<br />
<br />
And now, blog about it.<br />
<br />
My name is Mel, which is short for Melissa. I am a wife of 27 years and a mom of 3 boys and 1 girl. I live a creative life.<br />
